Challenge Success

Yay~ I beat the 30 day drawing challenge, and successfully!

(I wanted more frames, but until I learn how to get timing by frames and not fragments of a second in photoshop, I'm stuck)

Day 29 Lumpy Space

Day 29 = somewhere you'd like to visit. Adventure Time's Lumpy Space. It's just so colourful! (colours grabbed from screen shots - my colour sense isn't up to par yet)

Day 28 - Hippo thing

Day 28 = ANYTHING. Nother quickie. Gibbled hand.

Day 26 – Creative Sink

Day 26 = Something you dislike.

There are those who inspire you everytime you talk to them. The opposite also exists. People like any other, save for a special ability. They talk and sound like any other. But they are a creative sink. Just entering into proximity drains the colour from your world. Talking to them monochromes life. They sap your creativity, they put out your spark. Beware, the creative sink.

Day 25

Day 25 = scenery. A couple quick layouts.

Day 24

Day 24 = A couple. Another junkit post.

Pillow

Day 23 = Something you need. Another one of those thinking questions. I cheaped out and went with sleep/ my pillow.

Silent Tears

Sad Bob. Day 22 = Something you miss. Reboot. "The hunt begins"? No, sadly... it won't.

Gibbley cause last minute. Spent the entire day thinking about what I miss. Only pops up with 20 minutes left...

Day 21

Day 21 = something you want. Well, gotta cold. I want it to stop. Now.

Borderlands is Fun

Day 20 = Something Orange. More of Borderlands' Gaige!

Just some quick colours. Colour scares me, so I will slowly fight it off.

Day 19 bleh

Day 19 = Something new. Spent most of the day contemplating what constituted new. Got borderlands 2 recently. That will have to do, since I'm almost out of time. Here, have a super rushed quickie.

Day 18 = Just a doodle.

Day 17

Day 17 = favourite plant. The vanilla orchid, if only cause vanilla comes from it. VANILLA.

I also like snapdragons.

Inspiration

Day 16 = Inspiration. AndroidArts. I stumbled onto this site recently, and have slowly been going through the pages. He goes through old games he enjoys and revisualizes them, and shares his process and thoughts as he goes. These drawings are a pale imitation btw. I was trying to get a feel. (as such, several of these were referenced)

Family - Rough stuff

Before I can stylize a person I know, I usually do these horrid 'realistic' quickies. Otherwise it's hard to get any semblance. Especially when some signature features can't make the shift. (ie: prominent cheeks) Especially for girls. Though every line can help with likeness, it also ages them really fast. Using the minimum to get the maximum possible is a hard balance to preserve.

Family

Day 15 = family portrait. Yeaaaah, ended up being separated. And the bottom's just a sketch I liked. And the top one has one glaring problem that I really should have spotted. BUT! My arm is finally starting to feel like it used to.

Oh yeah, top's my sister. Bottom is mom.

Day 14

Day 14 = Fave fairy tale. Jack and the Beanstalk will do.

Week 13 = comic. I suppose this is an attempted 4koma. Gotta turn my internet off. Even then, I can feel it beckoning...

On the twelfth

Day 12 = most recent accomplishment. Well, the last few weeks I've been drawing every day.

Day 11

Day 11 = turning point. Perhaps not the most prominent, but certainly one of them. After graduating high school, I took a philosophy class out of curiousity. Bob (teacher) came in on the first day with a full suit, a wicked set of lamb chops, and sandals. Anyway, the class; minus two people, failed the first paper. The class dropped from 30ish to under 10 soon after.

Love 'em crunchy

Day 10 = Favourite candy. I rarely eat candy now, but when I do, it's a Crunchie bar.

Day 9 Quickie

Nothin fancy. Day 9 = fave cartoon. Saw my first ep of Adventure Time a couple days ago. Fun stuff.

Mighty MAX!!

Day 8. Favourite animated character. Excluding anime, this is what came to mind. Nostalgia power ON.

Blarg

Day 07 = favourite movie. Either EoE or this. I LOVED the snowball scene.

(only after pulling my nose out of the sketch do I realize just how much I should have reversed that body arc... Well, guess I gotta live with it... arrrg that's never going to stop bugging me!)

Day06

Your favourite book(s). Supposedly a Rand al Thor of Wheel of Time. NO JUSTICE! Ugh, kicking myself for last minuting this. I will make it up to you Rand!

Since I couldn't remember what they looked like. I left the bad ones in (even though a couple make my eyes bleed) - takes a few to get a feel for 'em.

Day 5. A couple pals.

A favourite place?? That's real?

Ugh, so many hard questions. I don't have a favourite animal or food! And the fourth day is your favourite place! Well, this will have to do. My room has a bed (complete with gaudy covers), and an animation desk. A scanner to scan, and a computer to browse. Kinda dark though. That desk isn't so tidy irl btw - it's missing an awful lot of figurines.

I would have liked to try stylizing it, but I waited too long. Next time!!

Nanaimo Bars!!

Freaking love 'em. A bakery near me used to make coffee and vanilla flavoured ones too. But then they stopped :'( Anywho, day 3 was your favourite food. I have a bunch, but this is what popped up. 30 day challenge from here. This particular challenge was originally meant for facebook, but I recently killed mine. Soooo yeah.

Penguins!

This one was hard. Turns out, I've never thought about what my favourite animal is. Penguins are cool, so, penguins.

Kneecap Homer

Another ABB topic. I really should have paid more attention to how the hat was situated. I wanted to have the luminescent white eyes, but it hurt, so I darkened them.

30 Days

Trying this 30 Day Drawing Challenge. Never tried one before, so I wanted to give it a shot. Anywho, first one is yourself! Ain't he adorable!?

Oh James...

Another ABB "Bond's Worst Nightmare". My Bond looks suspiciously like Fallout's vault boy...

Didn't know Photoshop could do animated gifs, so I wanted to give it a try. Pretty neat, albeit really unwieldly when it comes to timing. I have a pretty good feel for how long frames last. But 0.2 of a second... no idea. Their choice of interface doesn't help. Turns out that it runs at different speeds on different browsers too. BUT!! It's awesome for short and simple gifs. I'll definitely be doing this more often.

Sticky fingers. Ahhhhhhh!

Another one for ABB; "The thing(s) that scare you most". While I'm not scared of this, I don't really like getting gunky. I need to psyche myself up before I dive into ribs and the like :| .

Zombie Hatter Guy

 Still trying to get comfortable with Painter. Having a bit more fun now though.

WIPy stuff. The one on the left was originally blue line, and much MUCH lighter. Had to fiddle to make it visible at all. I don't like doing a second pass on a new sheet; animation or not, so I go over top, then strip out the blue with Photoshop. Nifty stuff. And stroke is awesome.

I noticed I treat drawing differently between animation and illustration. I really should start approaching these as I would a key.
